Office web apps not installing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I set up Sharepoint 2010. Then I downloaded the office web apps installation file from:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=27d81b1c-18ae-4983-8e1c-224bb747eb99

I run the installer, then I enter this key:

BQDC3-93DMP-HGJB2-MFFV8-622QJ   (which afaik is the trial version key)

Then when the wizard is validating the key, I get this message:

"Microsoft Office Server Trial Edition products may not be installed on a server with licensed Microsoft Office Server products. Remove existing Microsoft Office Server products and re-run setup."

Do you guys have any idea on how to solve this issue?

    Thanks!

Answers

  • You can get it through MSDN, but there's no publicly available "free" version of it.

  • I'll ask the obvious question John, are there any applications on the server already which are part of the Office suite?

  • Hi John,

Looks like you may have installed a licensed version of SharePoint 2010? I ran into this issue when I had the private betas of the 2010 Office Suite installed and the Private-Betas had a full license key and the Public Betas had a Trial key..

  • It seems that you are using RTM Trial Version of SharePoint 2010 with Beta version of Office Web Apps.  Both of these cannot exist on same server.

As told by John White, there is no "free" trial RTM version of Office Web Apps.  It can only be downloaded if you have MSDN or TechNet subscription.
