  • Hey Vg444,

First check Windows Update to see if any updates or drivers are offered for your computer. You can do this by:

    • Enter the Start screen
    • Type Windows Update (if you are using a touchscreen: Touch your finger to the right edge of the screen and swipe your finger to the left. Then touch the Search charm and touch the Search textbox to be able to type Windows Update)
    • Click Settings in the right column
    • Click Check for updates
    • Click Check for updates in the left column of the Windows Update window

If updates or drivers are presented, try installing those and restart your computer. Then test to see if you have the same problem. If that doesn't help, let's try refreshing your PC to see if that resolves your problem. Here is what will happen when you refresh your PC:

    • Your files and personalization settings won't change.
    • Your PC settings will be restored to their defaults.
    • Apps from Windows Store will be kept. All other apps will be removed.

    To refresh your PC:

    • Enter the Start screen
    • Click Control Panel
    • Click General in the left column
    • Under Refresh your PC without affecting your files, click Get started

Then follow the steps that will be provided on the screen.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hello vg444,

In addition to what Steven has suggested, look at the information below to see if it helps.

For Metro Apps to work, you need to have the following:
    1) Your screen resolution needs to be at least 1024x768.
    2) Next, if you have turned off User Account Control, your Metro apps will not work.
You can check if UAC is enabled here: Control Panel > User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings
    3) Try using a Local account instead of a Windows Live ID account.

          4) If you are using an Windows Live account, the password cannot be greater than 16 characters.

If Metro Apps are still not working your other option would be to Refresh your PC as Steven suggested.

    Thanks,

    Marilyn
