Azure Files NTFS permissions with AADDS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Looking to create some old school file share functionality for VMs attached to AADDS domain

I set up and can connect ok from AADDS joined VM.  When I bring up the NTFS permissions for the azure files share in VM there are two groups which I don't know where the come from or what to do with them

    they are storageaccountname\administrators (full )  and storageaccountname\users ( read & execute)

Not sure where these groups originate or can be controlled from.

Can I just remove them once I add my managed domain groups or is that going to break something?

  • They are part of the default ACL but do not serve any purpose currently. You can delete them if they bother you - there should be no impact.
