Configure Remote Distribution error RRS feed

  • Question

  • there are two windows servers and no longer the same LAN.

    i want to configure server2 as the remote distibutor

    in the server2,i added server1 as a publisher in the Configure Distribution Wizard and set the password

    in the server1,i configures distribution like this>> select Add buttons and Login with distributor_admin

    results:

    "server1 name" is not enabled as publisher at the distributor. "server2 ip". Contact the adminstrator of the Distributor to enable this server as a publisher

  • Hi huisky,

    1.Distribution and Publisher in different domain,create one same log in both in Server1 and Server2, and then grant  it sysadmin role as next and then log in both server with SQL Server Authentication.

    2.In the Server2(Distribution), make sure you have already add the full server name of the Server1(Publisher's);

    to get the full server name by excuting code: select @@servername

    3.In Server1(Pulisher) to add the Server2(Distribution)

  • Use the SQL Server Configuration Manager to create an alias. Make sure you do this for both the 32bit and 64 bit nodes. You can find this in the SQL Native Client Configuration node.

    If you are on a cluster you will need to do it for both cluster nodes.

    The alias name should be the host name for your remote distributor. Your Server should be the IP address of your remote distributor. Once you have done this go through the wizard again.
