The search function is not working.  This is a long standing problem and is VERY annoying.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Please read fully before posting an answer.

I am searching for text within a file.  The file name is index.php.  The text is echoRootFolder.  The folder is a subfolder of CRW-10449.

As can be seen in the following photo, the "File contents" option is checked.  "All subfolders is enabled".  The higher level folder has been indexed (Users).  I've done everything I can think of and everything I have found on the Internet and still a very simple task for a computer is non-functional.

I've had this problem with two different computers and two Windows OSs (Windows 7 and 8.1)
I've ended up using grep in cygwin or Visual Studio.  I can't believe it is designed to be this difficult.
