  • Question

  • Hi There, this may be a dumb question, but i currently use PHP to connect to MySql... i know how to connect to a db from vb but where do i start when it comes to connecting to a db and grabbing data dynamically in html5/ Javascript app?

  • Fairly big question.  There are a lot of options, but here are a couple that I've seen used a lot.

    1. Web services - fairly easy to connect to any number of private or public web services to get data (i.e Twitter, Flickr, AWS, etc).  There are a lot of examples of how to do this directly in javascript.

    2. Use SQLite as a local data store.  We are doing this using a C# data layer and one of the SQLite libraries available on GitHub (there are several).  This allows us to set up simple POCO objects matching the table/view structure and query it using a stripped down implementation off LINC.

Wondering if there are some existing javascript libraries for querying MySQL already, I haven't done much on that side of things so I'm not sure.
