Problem .NET 3.5 on Windows 8.1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I want to install (on admin mode) .NET 3.5 framework on Windows 8.1 updated from Windows 8.0.

When I run a program written for .NET 3.5, windows offers me to install .NET 3.5 but the install failed.

All tips  (support.microsoft.com/kb/2734782 )have failed  from the command line using DISM : The files are not found

Do you have a solution ?

  • Hi,

.Net framework 3.5 is a part of windows 8.1. You could open it through control panel.

“Control Panel”->”Programs”->”Turn Windows features on or off” and open “.NET Framework 3.5(include .Net 2.0 and 3.0)”.

If you have opened it, please use the .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool to verify the installation state of .NET Framework 3.5.
    Download from :
    http://blogs.msdn.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer-Components-PostAttachments/00-08-99-90-04/netfx_5F00_setupverifier_5F00_new.zip
If the verification tool finds any issues, there is a .NET Framework Repair Tool that can be found at the following locations:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2698555
More information is in the blog at the following locations.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx

If the repair tool can't solve it, please upload the verification log to https://skydrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

    Regards.

  • Hi,

Thank you for the answer, I launched  the verification tool 1.0 but it failed

I don't tried the exe 2.0 on the zip because it is not digitally signed !!!

where can I download it officially and signed ?

is there is a conflict with Visual Studio 2010 ?

  • Hi,

No, there isn't any conflict with VS 2010.

Please use this tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290 to verify hash of the tool. The point of the exercise is to generate a hash value (SHA1) from the file so that it can be checked against the known value for that file. Any discrepancy would indicate that the file was corrupted.

    Please check it.

  • Hi,

    The  result is :

    C:\temp>fciv -sha1 NetFxRepairTool.exe

    //

// File Checksum Integrity Verifier version 2.05.

    //

    16fe3fa1ef83afc3da72b0d4b564094978fce929 netfxrepairtool.exe

We don't use the same repair tool !

why the exe 2.0 is not digitally signed ?

  • Hi,

Last reply, I verify the tool that is verification tool for .Net Framework, not repair tool.

" I launched  the verification tool 1.0 but it failed"

Can you use the verification tool? If not, please verify the verification tool for .Net Framework.

You also could try these steps:

    1. Download a fresh copy of the standalone installer for .NET Framework 3.5:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=25150

    2. Also, clear your %temp% directory and disable your AV software.

    3. Run the installer from step 1 As Administrator.

If the install fails, provide complete install logs as follows:

Please collect your install logs with this:

    http://aka.ms/vscollect

After you run Collect.exe, you'll find vslogs.cab in your %temp% directory. Please upload the file to https://skydrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

    Regards.

  • Hi,

I checked your log. But I can't find any installation log about .Net Framework 3.5.

It indicate your OS may have installed it, please use verification tool to verify the installation state of .Net Framework 3.5.

    Download from :
    http://blogs.msdn.com/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer-Components-PostAttachments/00-08-99-90-04/netfx_5F00_setupverifier_5F00_new.zip

I have tried downloading it and verify .Net Framework 3.5 in my computer.

    It could do it.

I need the verification log to analyze your issue.

If you encounter the error as before you said "I launched  the verification tool 1.0 but it failed", please use this tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290 to verify hash of the verification tool.

Note:This is verification tool, not repair tool.
