SOLVED: Databricks create secret scopes

    Question

  • When I try to follow the instructions on https://docs.azuredatabricks.net/user-guide/secrets/secret-scopes.html#create-a-secret-scope

to create a secret scope I get the following error:

    C:\...>databricks secrets create-scope --scope jdbc
Error: b'{"error_code":"BAD_REQUEST","message":"Premium Tier is disabled in this workspace. Secret scopes can only be created with initial_manage_principal \\"users\\"."}'

it is true that I have a standard pricing tier, but I do not see anywhere in the documentation that this should be a problem.

Does anyone know whether it is possible to create a secret scope in standard tier, if yes: how?

    I already found the solution:

    C:\...>databricks secrets create-scope --scope jdbc --initial-manage-principal "users"

    works
