  • Did you check the HD-FaceBasics sample in the SDK browser? It is a full example for the 3d face tracking.

  • There is no relationship and you should not assume one since the 3D model is an artistic representation. We have provided an enumeration of where key vertices are as in v1. As documented, do not take a dependency on the model and it should not be used in production apps. You may want to build out your own mesh and use the data provided by the face api to do particular mesh manipulations on your model.

  • In HDfaceBasics sample I took animation units using currentfacealignment, what should I use for extracting 3d points (if not currentFaceModel)?

  • You can extract points from a FaceModel instance. The method CalculateVerticesForAlignment returns a list with CameraSpacePoints. What I understand you should not use in production apps is the 3D representation and use your own processing instead.

  • Moreover what exactly is FaceShapeDeformations? And what is the difference between FaceShapeDeformations and Animation Units?
