CE 6.0 installation woes RRS feed

  • Question

  • I wanted to try Windows CE 6.0.  It wouldn't install on my Windows 7 x64 machine, so I triesd on an XP box.  The XP has all of the Visual Studios, 2005, 2008 and 2010.  The installer for CE thinks I need Visual Studio 2005 still.  Do I really need to uninstall a full copy of Visual Studio 2005 and install a trial version to get this thing to work?  Is the trial version they want you to install have some features that are not present in VS 2005?

  • Hi,

For installation of CE6 on a 64bit machine you can read Valter Minute's blog or search the net - it is starting to be swamped with experiences.

As for the XP machine: you need VS2005 professional installed + Vs2005 SP1. Then you can start installing CE 6.
