sharepoint 2010 exclude user from profile import

Hi,

How to exclude some user profile from import. how to implement it in exclusion filter to just stop some user profile to be imported.

pls guide

These are the steps defined in Technet

To define connection filters

1. On the Central Administration Web site, in the Application Management section, click Manage service applications.

2. On the Manage Service Applications page, click the User Profile service application name.

3. On the Manage Profile Service page, in the Synchronization section, select Configure Synchronization Connections.

4. On the Synchronization Connections page, right-click the connection for which you want to configure Profile Synchronization connection filters, and then click Edit Connection Filters.

5. On the Edit connection filters page, in the Exclusion Filters for Users section, select the operator to use to join the clauses of the filter.

   • To specify that all of the clauses of the filter must be true, select All apply (AND).
     
     
   • To specify that at least one of the clauses of the filter must be true, select Any apply (OR).
     
     

6. In the Attributes list, select the directory service attribute to compare.

7. In the Operator list, select the comparison operator to use.

   The operators that are available depend on the data type of the attribute that you selected.

8. In the Filter box, type the value to compare the attribute to.

9. Click Add.

   The clause that you added is displayed in the Exclusion Filter for Users area.

10. To add additional clauses to the filter, repeat steps 6 through 9.

11. To filter which groups are synchronized, repeat steps 5 through 9, using the Exclusion Filters for Groups section of the page.

12. When you have finished adding connection filters, click OK.

Hi,

I used  sAMAccountName attribute from list

select equal operator

enter user name like testuser1

click Ok

filter added to exlusion list.

now i have run fill import.  pls tell how do i confirm filter is ok and working fine. if i exclude user from profile import can user access portal. which would be effect on user not importing his profile. pls guide.

User Profile import will not affect site permissions.

The user profile import will not import the user details from AD.

For site access you need to go to your site and modify permissions

hi,

i have to exlude 3 users so should i have to make 3 rules or is it possible to add all three user name in 1 rule.

what if i have to make 3 rules what clause should i use

All apply (AND).

Any apply (OR).

You can add all 3 users in 1 rule using AND

If you are making 3 separate rules by default all rules are ANDed (All apply).

So, you can do it either way.

Hi,

i have add 3 exclusion filter for user as follow :

sAMAccountName Equals user1
sAMAccountName Equals user2
sAMAccountName Equals user3

Number of User Profiles : 100

Run Full profile import.

after full import Number of User Profiles still 100. i believe it should be 97.  secondly if i search user profile from manage user profile 2 users returns result 1 is not first one.

pls tell where is problem and how to fix it.

1) You need to run the "My Site Cleanup" timer job. This job is scheduled to run every 59 minutes, but for faster results you can manually run the job and check your user profiles.

Hi,

let me wait to run this timer job.once this job done what is the way to check user exlusion is done and working fine.

user profile servervice & Application --> Manager user profile :  enter user name to get its info. if isearch exlusion user than its give me result with user name.

Your number of user profiles should be updated to the new number.

and I think it should also be removed from search results.
