502 Bad Gateway only for certain mime types? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we have a problem with Azure CDN from Microsoft responding with 502 Bad Gateway for a file with content type "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.template" (a.k.a. "DOTX file"), while files with type "application/pdf" for example work fine. Both files work on the backend (Azure BLOB storage) but not on the CDN URL, regardless of HTTP/HTTPS.

    Compare for example:

    • https://gmth.azureedge.net/site/GMTH-Kongressheft-Mainz-09.pdf (works fine)
    • https://gmth.azureedge.net/site/GMTH-Proceedings_Musterdokument.dotx (502 Bad Gateway)

The files are provided by Azure BLOB storage (classic):

    • https://gmth.blob.core.windows.net/site/GMTH-Kongressheft-Mainz-09.pdf (works fine)
    • https://gmth.blob.core.windows.net/site/GMTH-Proceedings_Musterdokument.dotx (works fine, too)

My assumption is that the problem is related to the mime type. Is there a solution to this?

    Best regards,

  • We are using Standard Microsoft - Preview in North Europe with a classic BLOB storage account as origin.
