Logging cloud file storage transactions in azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using cloud file storage service for storing, downloading, deleting files along with copy to backup location within same storage though a windows service created in c# and

All these file movements are logging in a flat file locally. Can we store that log file on cloud file and then access that as matrics in azure monitor. We want to see  how many files uploaded, downloaded, copied or deleted from a folder within file storage. Please let us know if this can be archived and how?

  • Hello Amikat,

Azure Log analytics is recommended solution which will work for your requirement. I would highly recommend you to check here for more information on this

    1) You need to install log analytics agent in local server where you store your flat file

    2)  In Azure portal, go-to your log analytics workspace (if you have already one which is created, if not please create it by following the steps mentioned here) and then go-to advanced settings and under custom logs do the configuration to fetch flat files content in log analytics repository in cloud as explained details here on custom logs in Azure Monitor.

Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance on this.

  • Thanks YASWANTHM!!

Alternatively, can we use cosmos db for the purpose of logging exceptions, errors, flow tracking of a windows service running on cloud VM? Then we can fetch that data to

log analytics agent for further analysis. Please advice. Thanks!!
