  • Question

  • Thinking about this even makes me thinks this is a dumb question, but i must make sure. Can you make applications in windows mobile 6.1 using the windows mobile 6 download? I am going to buy the Treo 800w and i just want to make sure you can do programming with it using visual studio 2008 professional.

  • Hi,

No question is a dumb question.

Yes I am sure you can create applications using Visual Studio targetting previous versions of Windows Mobile and they will run on the newer version of Windows Mobile, there is a high degree of backward compatibilty. The only exception to this would be the use of the System state and notification broker, that I know of. In WM6.1 Microsoft added additional SystemStates and you would require to add references to the DLL from the WM6.1 SDK to make use of these, however if you use standard controls and properties then you shouldn't have any problems.

    Hope this helps.
