Powerpivot+getting EXCEPTION problems from HRESULT 0x800a03ec AND ALSO from HRESULT: 0x800A01A8 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a new PC and just installed office 2010, powerpivot v2, Net framework 4, Visual studio 2010 for office runtime (all properly installed)

I use powerpivot to extract data from an SQL. As I started dragging fields in the powerpivot field list and then started getting the following messages:

EXCEPTION from HRESULT 0x800a03ec..... AND ALSO..... from HRESULT: 0x800A01A8

Additionally, the fields that I dragged into the powerpivot field list areas, they get stuck there, although they no longer work.

I will appreciate if anybody know how to resolve this. Please provide step by step instructions because I am no expert.

  • Dear AlexRK,

After all those Installations, Have you restarted your System. Please tell the Sequence of Actions you Do so from the time you Open Excel So that I can check where exactly might be the problem.

  • Hi ALEXRK,

If we install the 32-bit version of Excel, we must use the 32-bit version of PowerPivot. If we install the 64-bit version of Excel, we must use the 64-bit version of PowerPivot.

In your case,, I suggest you can try to reinstall SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel. For more information, please see:

  • Hi Bin Long,

Of course I installed the 64-bit for my 64-bit system.

After reinstalling office, visual studio and Net frame....the problem continued.

So, I started from scratch by reinstalling a virgin IMAGE of my PC as well as reinstalling all the above mentioned. Then the problem disappeared.

However, Powerpivot has a glitch, as far as adding values in the "values" area of the pivottable field list. SEE ALL INFO HERE:
