Sorting by Attribute Key RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I am having trouble sorting members of my hierarchy. What i have is a hierarchy with 5 levels. I have a Finance_Key column that i have set up as an attribute key for ordering purposes. I want the members of each level to display as they appear in the dimension table.

The problem is they are not all behaving this way. At level 2 a member called 'Equity' displays last out of the 5 members at that level when it should be 2nd. The only thing i can see is that there are 2 members with the same name ie 'Equity" at the 3rdlevel. This is the set up. It seems to me that as Equity is grouped by the last occurring member with the same name. Is this normal behaviour for ssas?

    Revenue
          SRP
             School Funding
             Equity

    Expenditure
    Balance Sheet
          Equity
             Equity

    Cheers
    Tony

  • Hi Tony,

Are you running AS2005 and have declared an attribute relationship on your hierarchy which is not purely n:1, i. e. for Equity has several items on the level above? AS2008 would stop processing in this case, AS2005 seems to continue and show wrong results.
