whether OpenSCManager support available in Windows store app.?

    Question

  • Hi all,

I am trying to use OpenSCManager() in windows store app but it returns Access_Denied.

According to MSDN,http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms684323(v=vs.85).aspx, Seemslike Windows store app doesnt have support for this function call. Does any body have an idea to fix this issue, or is there any function call which helps to open a service Manager.

Note: I am running My app on Windows RT platform.

    Thanks and regards,

    Muthu

  • Modern UI applications are not allowed to directly access services installed on the system that the application is running on. See section 3 at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/windows/apps/hh694083.aspx

  • Thanks for your response,

I do understand, I must have to use only the Windows RT  APIs to implement my application, But I couldn't figure out any Window Store app APIs which serve for creating/opening a Service from below link.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/br211369.aspx

Could you Please help me by finding Respective APIs.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Muthu

  • It is not simply a matter of only using the WinRT APIs. Even if there was some combination of APIs that would do what you want, the act of connecting to a system wide service would disqualify your app from the store.
