Official Pi 800*480 screen (v1.1) 2015 RRS feed

Answers

  • This is not an official confirmation, but I can tell you that I have a display with a v1.0, 2014 version of the PCB and it DOES work with my Rpi 2 running Windows 10 IoT Core build 10.0.10586.  That is the display works, but does not support the touch functionality.

I have a colleague that has a v1.1, 2015 version of the PCB and it DOES NOT work for him.

Again, this is isn't scientific or official confirmation, but at least mirrors what the site says.

  • Update:

I just installed the latest Insider Preview build (10.0.14262.1000), and v1.1 of the touchscreen works (including the touch capability).

  • The following observation has been made on the Raspberry Pi site

The V1.0 (c) Raspberry PI 2014 works with IOT.
The V1.1 (c) Raspberry PI 2015 doesn't work with IOT!!!!

Can anyone confirm or refute this?

I have a v1.1 Raspberry Pi Display and it doesn't appear to work with Windows 10 IoT v10.0.10586 and a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B v1.1. If I re-flash the SD card to the latest Raspbian (21 Nov 2015) everything works fine.

  • Hi!

    Any news on this?

  • Hi, I'm also curious if you are going to fix this.

I'm ahead to start developing my app. Can you tell, if you are already working on a fix for this display? If you think this can be fixed within the next 1-2 months, I can wait. Otherwise I might start developing using GTK# or so...

    Many thanks

  • Just for the record: I tried it again after manually updating the Raspberry Pi 2 to 10.0.10586.63 by following this video: https://channel9.msdn.com/Blogs/raw-tech/Manually-Updating-a-Raspberry-Pi-2-running-Windows-10-IoT-Core-to-the-1001058663-Update

No change so far (and the Pi2 keeps thinking it needs to be updated ;) )

  • I too have just received a V1.1 2015 display and it doesn't appear to work on Windows 10 IoT Core build 10.0.10586.63 - just black screen.  Is there any update on when this may be fixed?  It's been over a month now and no updates (official or otherwise).

  • Experiencing the same issue with v1.1 display, hopefully someone at Microsoft can get the information and fix this ?

  • Thanks Adrian!

It is working for me as well with the insider preview build.

I had to add the following lines to the end of the config.txt on the Pi's SD card for the best display with my v1.0 Official Raspberry Pi display board.  It defaulted to being upside down.  This rotates it 180 degrees to show the right way again.  You can edit the config.txt file if you just stick the SD card back into your computer.  It will be in the root of the SD card.  Or, you can leave the SD card in your pi, and connect to the file via a unc path, \\<your.pis.ip.address>\c$\efiesp\config.txt .  (login with the Administrator/p@ssw0rd credentials unless you changed them).  Anyhow, add the following two lines to the very bottom of the config.txt file then reboot the pi :

    # Set Resolution and Rotation the screen for the Official Raspberry Pi Touch Display
    lcd_rotate=2            # Rotate the display 180

  • Confirmed - with touch!

This is where you download 10.0.14262.1000: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsiot

(took me a while... The installer places the FFU image in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft IoT)

    cheers

  • 14262 is also working for me, touch and display.

  • Now I can also confirm display & touch functionality. Really cool: It also recognizes touch guestures, so I can scroll in ListViews just by swiping! Awesome!

Thank you guys that you heared our prayers :) I already started with mono + GTK#2 and it was Pain in the a.. to make the application look like an app...

  • @IoTGirl

Yes I joined the insider program. This way I was able to download the preview image which supports the display. The Image had to be flashed with the WindowsIoTImageHelper. I was not able to get this image installed via your official dashboard. Do you know when this image will be available via dashboard?

  • Hi polychaeta,

Unfortunately I am not able to identify which releases will be public and which will be preview. THese will likely be announced the same day they are released and not before.

    Sincerely,
