    Hi Beginer,

    I had the below code where filters are working fine for html table. But I required it to show on top.
    And i had replaced the .appendTo( $(column.footer ()).empty() ) to .appendTo( $(column.header()).empty() ) .But my table headers are going down . I required drop-downs on top my table headers.

    According to your description and codes, I found you use $(column.header()).empty() this means jquery table will remove the auto generated header.

    So the tr will be the table footer.

    I suggest you could try below codes:

    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html>
    <head>
        <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://cdn.datatables.net/1.10.16/css/jquery.dataTables.min.css">
        <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
        <script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.12.4.js"></script>
        <script src="https://cdn.datatables.net/1.10.16/js/jquery.dataTables.min.js"></script>
        <script>
    $(document).ready(function() {
        $('#example').DataTable( {
            initComplete: function () {
                this.api().columns().every( function () {
                    var column = this;
                    var select = $('<select><option value=""></option></select>')
                        .appendTo( $(column.header())  )
                        .on( 'change', function () {
                            var val = $.fn.dataTable.util.escapeRegex(
                                $(this).val()
                            );
                            column
                                .search( val ? '^'+val+'$' : '', true, false )
                                .draw();
                        } );
