  • Hi Gaurang,

    Thanks for posting in the MSDN Forum.

    I would recommend you clarify your goal more clearly. What mean of “xml” here? As far as I know that Word have a kind of xml file format named “Word xml document” or “Word 2003 xml document”. Do you “xml” means that? An it’s based on my experience that retrieve the information and write recorder to a customized xml format document is a usual way for some program. So I’m not sure about your goal in this case.

    And whether use Visual Studio 2012 & Windows 8 and whether your project is a wpf application, .NET Web application, Console application, Windows form application, use C#, VB.NET will not prevent you to approach your goal if you have installed Open Xml SDK on your target machine.

    Have a good day,

    Tom

  • Hi Gaurang,

    I think I still confuse with your goal. What's mean of resume? Can I think it just a document for your Word document(it has no relationship with *.doc or *.docx file, we also use resume format on papers)?

    The key of xml file is it struct. Would you clarify it? For example, I have following document:

    Name : Tom Xu
    Sex : Male
    Live In: Earth

    I can format it to xml like this:

    <resume>
      <persons>
        <person name="Tom Xu" sex="Male">
          <live_in>Earth</live_in>
        </person>
      <persons>
    </resume>

    we also can fomat like that:

    <resume>
      <person>
        <name>Tom Xu</name>
    	<sex>Maile</sex>
    	<live_in>Earth</live_in>
      </person>
    </resume>

    You can format it in many kind of way, and different format will let you write different code to format it.

    So I think hard to response your goal until you can show me clearly scenario.

    If I have misunderstood anything please feel free to let me know.

    Have a good day,

    Tom

  • Hi,

    The described scenario is not viable in current released Office. Back to your requirement, I suggest you change your program workflow: save the resume document as rich text.

  • WPF RichTextBox is able to read from .rtf and save content as stream. You can also fill in the application with resume content manually. Save the content to database.
