Updating from VS 2008 to 2013 RRS feed

I want to install VS 2013, mainly to experiment with MVC. I currently use VS 2008.

I have a lot of Web Form projects and I need to preserve them somehow. When I updated to VS 2008 from an earlier version I ended up in a real mess and had to re-write quite a lot of stuff from scratch because the conversion process did not really work as I had expected.

How to go about this please ?

I would suggest you make a backup of all projects before the upgrade. Test and make sure it's working fine with VS before uploading to live projects...

    HI,

You can use these steps to convert a solution or project that was created in an  version of Visual Studio to the format that is used by the current version.

To upgrade a project that was created in an earlier version of Visual Studio

    1. In Visual Studio, on the File menu, click Open and then click Project/Solution, Web Site, or File, depending on the kind of project you are upgrading.

    2. Select a .vcproj, .vbproj, .csproj, .vjsproj, or .sln file, and then click OK.

If Visual Studio detects that the project or file was created in an earlier version of Visual Studio, the Visual Studio Conversion Wizard opens.

    3. Complete the Visual Studio Conversion Wizard.

    Best regards,

    Angie
