SP2013 for Intranet and Internet RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are working on developing a SP2013 site which would be Intranet as well as Internet facing.

The Security team prefers to have separete set of Web Front End servers for Intranet and Internet access.

Is it possible to have few Web Front End Servers enabled for Internet only and few servers for Intranet only? Any insight into details or reference articles would be helpful.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

You can create 2 different web application each have one site collection.

1 Web Application --> 1 Site Collection --> use for intranet

1 Web Application --> 1 Site Collection --> use for internet

By this way you can manage both as separate entity.

If u want to serve each site with specific Web Server so that you can map host entry to IP address of WFE not the NLB Entry so that site serve by one specific server.

    thx

  • Hello

You cannot say, for example, this server will only host intranet content, and this server will only host extranet content.  This would need to be configured at either your reverse proxy or load balancer to only have the respective IP's in the pool the virtual IP address is listening on.
