Mouse Scroll in Access Tables RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a user that created a database in Access. He only uses the tables part of Access (not the forms part). He said that he used to be able to use the mouse wheel to scroll through his records, but since we in IT have upgraded his version of Access to 2007/2010 he no longer has that option.

He told me there's a patch for this problem. I've search for it but I have yet to find it. Everything I read says a person has to write code to enable the mouse scroll option and even that only works in Forms. Since he only uses the Table part, is there something he can do to his database to enable the scroll option?

  • Well I can scroll through mine just fine and I don't use any code. Tell him to click in the table somewhere and try again. You are correct that typically there is no code in tables until you get to A2010. So did you update him to 2007 or 2010.

  • We updated him to 2007. Does it make a difference? Is there a feature in 2010 that enables a user to use the mouse wheel to scroll through their records in tables?

  • This looks like a bug to me. I can't scroll with the mouse wheel until I move the scrollbar by dragging it first. Then the wheel works.

  • Turns out you need to get a new driver for your mouse. This is a common problem. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/downloads#mouse

  • I'm glad I could help. And I doubt I'm any smarter than you. I just have a lot of practice Googling issues. [smile]
