Understanding the ContentPresenter... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am from a VB.net development experience here so some things in Blend are challenging to me. I can customize the appearance of a button with resources from Design, but I am trying to understand the purpose of the contentpresenter element. It looks like a label on the button but I can't change the color or font etc. If I remove the contentpresenter and use a Label instead am I missing anything?

I am just trying to understand what it is and how it should be used.

    Thanks.

  • Does the documentation of ContentPresenter help?

  • It helps a little. I guess what is confusing to me is that nothing goes in the ContentPresenter control correct? Things just get placed above or below? How does it know what controls to affect when you set properties such as center and such? Also, is there a reason to use it? If I create a button template with no content presenter is it still a button or am I missing some critical functionality?

    Thanks
