Visual Studio 2015 Update 3: Cannot open .cshtml files

    Question

  • Yesterday I installed Update 3 for Visual Studio 2015 Update 2.

I installed also "NET Core for Visual Studio official MSI Installer" (DotNetCore.1.0.0-VS2015Tools.Preview2.exe)  from here: https://www.microsoft.com/net/core?MC=MobileDev&MC=.NET&MC=ASPNET&MC=Vstudio#windows

After that when I started VS2015 I got many errors like "The 'XXX' package did not load correctly.". When Visual Studio was loaded  - there are error messages in many places of GUI including Solution Explorer panel.

The reparing of Visual Studio did not help.

I uninstall the DotNet Core tools for VS2015 und uninstall the Visual Studio also.

After installing VS again from ISO VS2015+Update 3 I got an error message about missing Azure component und install it as Update to Visual Studio. After that VS starts without errors.

PROBLEM: now I cannot open the .cshtml files at all (.NET 4.6.1 ASP.NET MVC project).

The error: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.ProjectSystem.DotNet.14.0, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

    Please help!

    The ActivityLog.xml file:

  • Found the solution:

Reinstall DotNetCore.1.0.0-VS2015Tools.Preview2.exe again and it should fix it.
