RTL8139 driver RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am trying to find a way to query the RTL8139 NIC to see what error state it is in. I can see in Wireshark that it sends less than 10 packets (which are acknowledged by the slave) before the NIC stops sending packets (using Ethercat as the protocol). With regard to the RTL8139 driver that is supplied with Windows Compact 7 in platform builder who wrote the driver, Realtec or Microsoft? From the realtec the latest driver I see for WinCE is 3.0, so I'm assuming Microsoft may have written the driver? It would be nice to contact somebody familiar with it who can give us clues why this driver doesn't work as is. Other NICs seem to work, but it's hit or miss depending on the driver I think. Using purchased software which includes an optimized link layer I am able to communicate through the RTL8139 with no problem, but using our own software we have issues because we are using the standard driver. If anyone has advice let us know, other colleagues have run into the same problem.
