Ad Group Base Bid RRS feed

  • Question

  • I see the UI now has the ability to set a base bid for all keywords in an adgroup (awsome!), what about the ability to set this with the API?  It appears that the only way to set the one bid for all keywords in an ad group is to loop through all the keywords and apply that bid to them.  If this ability is added in (or is just somewhere im not seeing) how does the quota work for it?  WIll it be a set amount to set an Ad Group level base bid or will it be dependant on the amount of keywords in the adgroup still?

  • The UI essentially provides a helper functionality to set the bid at the ad group level – internally it sets it for each individual keyword within the ad group.

So for API, your app needs to set it for each keyword within the ad group. And each such call will have quota associated with it. The quota for setting bids is minimal (1 point). The API supports batching, so within a single API call you can update bids for all keywords in the ad group. The quota is 1 point per keyword. Remember to please to use UpdateOrderItemBids() and not UpdateOrderItems() if you are only updating bids. Hope this helps!
