NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM used by Windows Scripting Host RRS feed

  • Question

  • NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM used by Windows Scripting Host application and is logging to the user databases and in the trace data it got captured that it is doing some server level config changes like "-- network protocol: TCP/IP set quoted_identifier on set arithabort off set numeric_roundabort off set ansi_warnings on set ansi_padding on set ansi_nulls on set concat_null_yields_null on set cursor_close_on_commit off set implicit_transactions o"

    Is it a security threat?

  • No.

Those are set conditions bound to connection; every connection that comes into SQL Server has some default settings.  That is nothing more then that; even when you open a query window to SQL Server SSMS passes similar statements to SQL Server to set the behavior for the transaction.
