Description length

The error text for description too long states to make sure description is only 150 chars long. Yet i have a description that is 199 including spaces and does not get picked up. it is 172 chars without spaces.

Why is this?

 Use rich snippet because Google shows 156 Characters (Including Spaces) for Meta Description.
