Installing WinUSB.sys as a function driver RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to setup winusb for a USB device, I have implemented the INF file in accordance to this link.

While installing/executing the INF I get "The third-party inf does not contain digital signature information" and the installation fail.

I can manually disable driver verification during the OS start-up, however, I have implemented no driver and all I want is to configure a given USB HW to use Microsoft implemented winusb files.

I am generating a catalog file in accordance with this link.

How can I avoid the signing problem?
What is there for me to sign? I have implemented no driver... ?

Answers

  • "%systemroot%/inf/setupapi.log" indicated that "Driver package catalog file does not contain a signature, and Code Integrity is enforced.", using signtool to sign the cat file resolved the problem.

    Example:

signtool sign /p ******* /f "Path to .PFX file" "Path to .CAT file"
