Windows XP Pro as the OS on a toshiba willpos A20 point of sale system - won't install some programs or load some web pages.

Question

I have windows XP Pro as the OS on a toshiba willpos A20 point of sale system.( it came with the business I purchased and I need to change the Point of sale software) It won't load some web pages ( but some are OK) and won't install some programs (XP compatible) even when logged in as Admin. I can't find anything in the security settings that specify anything is blocked although I suspect that is the issue. Or that there is some kind of hidden firewall? I was able to download and install Malwarebytes and Ccleaner,( and they ran ok) but can't install even an offline install version of Java that is for xp - required for the new Software. ( the run box comes up and when you click to run it just disappears and nothing happens) I have uninstalled the old POS software as it wouldn't run either (with an error that it couldn't connect with the host. )-selective web page loading happening.  Any ideas? I had it OFF for a while as the software didn't work for me and now it won't let me do anything!

XP is a bit old and IE browser might not be able to show newer webpages.

Are you sure this is XP Pro OS and not Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 / WEPOS / XP Embedded?

Can you re-install the OS?
