.NET Framework 4.6 Did not Install. RRS feed

  • Question

  • For the past day now I have been attempting to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6, but every time I try to install it I come up with a Fatal Error during Installation. I've went around and tried several different fixes that I've read on the site but nothing has worked, I'm hoping someone here will be able to provide what I could not.

Here's a link to the log from the crash:

  • Hi Trippy3,

Since you still have the problem, please backup your registry and refer to the comments below of the blog, you will see an possible workaround from "M" to manually set the registry(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer ).

  • Hi Trippy3,

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

I found the following error from your log file:

Error 997.Overlapped I/O  operation is in progress

    According to this blog:

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vsnetsetup/archive/2014/10/27/error-997-overlapped-i-o-operation-is-in-progress-kb2918614-breaks-windows-installer-service.aspx

The solution is to apply this update:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3000988

    You can try it.

  • It said that update was already installed on my computer, so no help there I'm afraid.
