Geocoding a CSV file the Bing Maps Spatial Data Service returns success, but no lat long data RRS feed

  • Hi Nicolas,

I figured it out. For New Zealand addresses I have to make sure I supply the Query in the text file schema here:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff701736.aspx

I should not use actual address fields as you would in the US.

So as a pipe delimed csv file, this works as input:

1|en-nz|36 Williamson Ave, Arch Hill, Auckland, 1021|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Note I've supplied the entire address in the 3rd column (GeocodeEntity/GeocodeRequest/@Query) as opposed to using the address columns.

    Thanks!

  • According to the MSDN documentation, you should be able to geocode locations in New Zealand.

You can take a look at the complete data coverage: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd435699.aspx

Can you post the first lines of your CSV so we can help you diagnose if something is wrong within the file?

  • Here is an example:

    1,en-nz,,36 Williamson Ave,Arch Hill,Auckland,1021,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I've left all the extra columns (commas) on the end, and I've also tried without the extra columns. Both give me a result like so:

    101,en-nz,,36 Williamson Ave,Arch Hill,Auckland,1021,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Success,,,

I can't retest this just at the moment as the service seems to be busy. I've got a couple of small batch jobs that have been listed as Pending for almost an hour now.

    Thanks for your help.
