AgilePoint vs WF RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have been asked to evaluate the pro's and con's of AgilePoint vs WWF. I have only used WWF so I am unaware of AgilePoint and how it is better, worse, or completely different from WF. I did read this article first (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/sharepointworkflow/thread/9571E96B-C057-43F4-9A50-7E823CBCB345) but the only thing I think I might have accurately drawn from the thread is that you can't design a state engine in AgilePoint...which I hard for me to believe for what seems to be an advanced product.

Well any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm off to read the WWF site to see if they highlight any differences.

    TIA

    JB

  • Hi, zzpluralza

Here are some differences between WF and AgilePoint. In the WF side. WF is a free workflow platform. you can develope your own Workflow/BMP system base on WF. WF provides Execution Runtime, Rehost Designer and VS integration.

While AgilePoint is a Workflow System base on their own platform.

If you are trying to find a Workflow system and use it after some configuration. AgilePoint or some other commercial workflow solution would be a good choice.

If you are trying to create your own Workflow System by code, and gain the highest control power. I would suggest using WF.

  • WWF basically supports two patterns, Sequential Workflow and State Machine Workflow. It causes lots custom cording time and effort for someone who is looking for workflows beyond these two patterns.

AgilePoint provides around 15 comprehensive dynamic workflow OOTB patterns such as roll back, dynamic parallel, etc which allow starting with a solid foundation and dramatically reducing coding effort and time.
