dsquery * cannot retrieve maxPwdAge

    Question

  • The following command returns a nonsense string in my domain:

dsquery * -filter "(distinguishedName=dc=MyDomain,dc=com)" -attr maxPwdAge

The attribute is a large integer, and is negative. Rather than returning the negative integer, it returns a nonsense string. I tried on Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

The only time I've seen similar is when I forgot to initialize one of the var's either globally or missed a grant.
