Upgrading a Solution from Developer's Preview to BETA

  • I've tried to open my solution in VS2011 Beta. all 4 'old' projects (.net 4) were loaded fine, but my Metro style project from

    the Developer's Preview did not.

    Don't we get to upgrade projects from Alpha to Beta easily ??

  • Hi zaxy78,
    Thank you for your post.
    As it is a migrate metro project developed in Developer Preview issue.
    I will move this thread to Tools for Metro style apps forum for a better support,
    Thank you for your understanding!

  • The best approach is to create a new project and migrate code across, rather than trying to upgrade the existing project. There is a MSFT whitepaper that goes into a lot more detail:

    //Build to Windows Consumer Preview

  • you can manage to load up your project by locating the .csproj file in your project folder and changing this line

    C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\WindowsXaml\v1.0\

    to this

    C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\WindowsXaml\v11.0\

    but as many things have changed since developer preview you will get many code errors so as AndyCadley said it would be best to start a new project and migrate your code over but atleast that will allow you to load up your original project making migration a little easier x
