Azure Backup Error "0x1D4C2 Operation Failed" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our client have a PC which got this error "0x1D4C2 Operation Failed" after installing the Azure Backup agent and scheduled a backup. Tried "Backup now" and this error pop-up few minutes, real quick.

Tried to search for answer, but only found the "double backslash", double checked registry not my case.

Retrieve the LOG but see almost no text description, only error codes.

  • Firstly, if feasible you may restart the server and then re-try the operation.

Just as a test, you could disable Firewall on the server, and then re-try the operation. Note: It is not recommended to turnoff Firewall, enable the firewall immediately after the test.

Regarding the error - 0x1D4C2, you can try to check your network and throttle your upload speed. This error can be caused due to various issues like some programs preventing the backup from succeeding, etc.

Open the %programfiles%\Microsoft Online Backup Service Agent\Temp\CBEngineCurr.errlog (or other cbengine#.errlog) with and search for 0x80070020.  If you find it, see what file is causing the failure and try to eliminate that file from the backup or stop the service that is using it.

Sometimes this issue may occur to third-party Endpoint protection or (Symantec).

You can also try to change the cache folder location.

Ensure that you have the latest agent installed http://aka.ms/azurebackup_agent.

You may also refer to the suggestion mentioned in this link

Also, verify whether Windows Guest Agent service is running in services. On the Server, Go to Start and search for services.msc. Try restarting the Windows Guest Agent service and initiate the Backup.

    • Open the Registry editor by typing regedit in the Run window.
    • Go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Azure Backup\Config\CloudBackupProvider path.
    • Right-click on the right side window and add a new string value ResyncNeeded_<ReplicaID>.
    • Once the value is added right-click on the value name and click Modify
    • Add the value data 1 and click Ok.

    Hope this helps!

Kindly let us know if the above helps or you need further assistance on this issue.

Still messing around without luck, disabled Symantec Endpoint Protection still fail. Checking the huge logfile only found suspicious here:
