Grant O365 user full access to an on-prem mailbox RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hybrid Exchange environment.  On-prem is Exchange 2016.

Prior to hybrid, I run the "add-mailboxpermission -identity reviewee -user reviewer -accessrights fullaccess" PS cmdlet to allow manager to review staff's mailbox.  The reviewee's mailbox will show up in the reviewer's Outlook.

However, this no longer works since the reviewer's mailbox migrated to O365.  The same cmdlet doesn't return any errors, and reviewer shows Full Access in reviewee's account in the EAC, but the reviewee's mailbox does not show up in the reviewer's Outlook.  Is this still possible now that the reviewer and reviewee are no longer in the same "space"?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Roget Luo,

From this article we can know that full access is supported in hybrid, but it doesn't work very well. You can try to remove permission and add again. You also need to sync this on-premises mailbox's AD account to Azure AD, other wise, there may exist some issue when try to look for mailbox.

There also exist some additional information that you need to pay attention to.

Please Note: Exchange Development forum isn't supported by Microsoft. Exchange hybrid Forum has been migrated to a new home on Microsoft Q&A. In order to better solve your question, I suggest you post question in that forum.
