Live Release date for Open XML Format SDK 2.0? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When with Open XML Format SDK 2.0 cease being a CTP and become a live release? We are using the CTP in a project and would like the SDK to be in Live state prior to project go-live date.

When will the next version of the Open XML Format SDK be released as a CTP?

    Thanks

  • Hi Eric,

The SDK is slated to be released around the same time O14 ships, which is still not a public date. If you do the math, based on past releases, the release date should be less than two years from now. In the meantime we are still working on improving the SDK.

  • I mean the specific bits - MSDN indicates SDK version 1.0 is no longer a CTP but is the Live version, so when is version 2 a live version and no longer a CTP? Presumably each bit cease to be a CTP when teh next bit comes out, so we don't have to wait 2 years before v2.0 ceases to be CTP!

  • We still have some time before we complete v2. Unfortuantely, we do not have any plans to release CTP bits as go live licenses. We want to make sure the SDK works properly without any issues before we release a go live license.

  • Hi Zeyad,

I have been involved in wrting an application that uses v2 of the SDK. Can we release that application within our own organisation?  Does there need to be a go-live licence for that to happen?

  • What do you mean by "within our own organisation"? without distributable packages, you need to install the SDK CTP firstly, then install your application. that's OK.

  • Thanks for the reply.  Just to clarify -
Our application will not be sold or distributed outside of our company. It will be deployed on a few PCs only within our main office.  Would this be allowed without a go-live license?
