Auto Logon for the Windows 8 Developer Preview

  • Here's a handy tip if you find yourself booting Windows 8 a lot and want to avoid logging-in every time.  It's a Windows 7 tip that still works.


    • Click Start to see the Fisher Price interface.
    • Type netplwiz in the search box.
    • In the User Accounts dialog that comes up, uncheck [ ] Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.
    • Store your password when it prompts.


    This can be especially useful for those running the new OS in virtual machines.  To reverse the above, just check the box again.
