Server 208 running on a VPC ... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Folks,

I have Windows 7 on my 64 bit laptop, trying to installed x64 Server 2008 in a VPC and it complains that the machine is not a 64 bit machine! I get the same error if I tried installing other 64 software (e.g. Windows 7).

I also get these very errors on my 32 bit computers.

    What am I doing wrong?

p.s. The 32 bit computer runs Windows 7 Enterprise, and the 64 bit, runs 7 Ultimate. They both run all 32 applications beautifully, and neither can run 64 bit applications!

  • VPC doesn't support 64-bit guests period.  You'll need to use another virtualization solution like VMWare or VirtualBox.

  • Thank you very much - That is exactly what I found out both through observation, and reading probably all other messages.
