How to Save the Visual Studio solution file in the directory of our choice in Visual Studio 2010.

    Question

  • Hi,

When creating a new web site I find that we can save the aspx, aspx.cs, configfile etc in the directory of our choice while the solution file is being saved default in C:\Users\Binny\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\ and inside a folder by the same name of the web site. How can we save the solution file also in the same folder in which we save the aspx, aspx.cs,config files etc.

    Thanking you in anticipation,

    Binny Mathew.

  • Hi Lana Xu,

When we create a new web site we browse and choose the saving of the location of the project and all the web forms with the code behind pages along with the web config files are saved in the choosen location. But the solution file always by default got saved in a sub folder under C:\Users\Binny\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects. But from another forum I got the answer. We can change the default location of the saving of the location of solution files by selecting in Visual Studio IDE tools\options\projects and solutions\General and specifying in the project location text box the location where the solution files have to be saved instead of the default location.

    Thank you,

    Binny

  • Hi Binny Mathew,

    Thank you for your post.

Currently, I'm not so clear with your question, do you mean that you would like to save the solution file under the same folder which saved the web config file?

As we know, when we create a new web project, we could browse and choose the saving project location, which also includes the aspx, aspx.cs, config file.

It means that these config files are under the same location with the solution file.

How about express more detailed about this question, so that we could have a better understanding of it and try to find the solution .

    Best Regards
