  • Hi,

    I have created a wcf service and hosted it on IIS 7.0. I was able to consume the service with local url(http://computeName/hellowserivce.svc) but when i try to cosume it through public/internet access url over https(https://FQDN/helloserice.svc), I was getting following error.We have SSL certificate assigned. Please suggest me, what is wrong here.

    The document at the url https://ABC/HelloService.svc  was not recognized as a known document type.The error message from each known type may help you fix the problem:- Report from 'XML Schema' is 'The document format is not recognized (the content type is 'text/html; charset=UTF-8').'.- Report from 'DISCO Document' is 'There was an error downloading 'http://computerName:81/helloservice.svc?disco'.'.  -

     The remote name could not be resolved: '<computerName>'- Report from 'https://ABC/HelloService.svc' is 'The document format is not recognized (the content type is 'text/html; charset=UTF-8').'.- Report from 'WSDL Document' is 'The document format is not recognized (the content type is 'text/html; charset=UTF-8').'.
