One config file to rule them all RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
Im currently working on a project that includes 2 console apps, one web app and one webservice.
All these use a couple of dll files that draw upon app.config for some settings.

What I would like to do would be to set this up so all these applications draw on the same app.config file,
in the same way as web apps all use machine config as to look up some default values

I would like to set up my project like this

    main folder
    (includes app.config for underlying folders
---the other folders (including the apps , and eventually a private app.config for additonal settings.)

Is this possible? How do you do it?

  • I think it is not a good practise.
I'd suggest to separate these application's config files rather than bind them together, even if they use the same setting which can be achieved by copy and paste config files.

    Thanks.
