Cannot get the member 'System.Web.Hosting.IISAPIRuntime2.ProcessRequest' RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are using .Net remoting application were web site is hosted on IIS 8.0 and Server 2012, we use custom exception to log error and re-throw the same error to  client machine.  We are getting runtime serialization exception message cannot get member System.Web.Hosting.IISAPIRuntime2.ProcessRequest on client machine.

The main issue is custom exception object serialized at server by .Net frame work 4.5   can’t desterilized at client machine with .Net frame work version 4.0, application pool is running at .Net 4.0 version.

    Exception:
      System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException

  • From MSDN, there is no such member.  The method is defined on IISAPIRuntime.

  • Yes I agree definition of this method is not documented at MSDN, I raise the case to Microsoft support and they said this is new namespace got introduce in .net 4.5 as a internal but as know this issue is stoping to move application on 2012. We are waiting from Microsoft to provide any alternative solution
