Question about terms of use RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I would like to have more precision about Location API Terms of Use.

    Here's a use case :

The Location API is used to allow user to enter a city.

I would store the city label, the country one and the coordinates (lat, long) in order to re-use it later : to connect people with the nearest others.

The stored data will be displayed on a Bing map or just in a label on the page.

    I've read :

    (b) Copy, store, archive, or create a database of the Content, except that geocodes may be stored locally only for use with your Company Applications.

I don't have rights to do that, that's right ?

So, i don't understand, how i can request my database for grouping users by location if the data cannot be stored on my database ? Should I drop the Location API in this case?

    Thanks in advance

  • That restriction in the terms of use means that you can't store any data from Bing Maps except the geocode data, but only if you will be using that data with your company application and no other mapping application other than Bing Maps. Based on how you described your application what you want to do would be allowed within the terms of use.
