Table field with data entry options RRS feed

  • I am working on designing a database for our engineering department schedule.  Each project has its own line in the table.  I want to be able to populate a drop down field that they can put in information regarding plans.  Some projects would have one maybe two entries and others would have much more.  I created a form for this.  I do not know how to make it one, attach to a field and two, to make it have new records for each job.  This may not be the proper way to do this.  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • You'd need to create related tables for such a scenario, not one single table.

    So you'd have a Projects table


    and then create a Projects Jobs table


    Then you'd have a Projects form in which you would insert a Job subform (in continuous mode) to allow you to enter the various jobs relating to the Project.

  • Hi, Sounds like you have a one to many relationship between schedules and plans. If so, the common approach is to use a form/subform approach. Hope it helps...
