Device Driver INF Verification Test Failed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

    We encounter a class install issue. Our WHCK version is 8.59.29723 and also apply the latest filter but it still gets fail. The following statement are the failure point. How to solve it?

    ---

    [ClassInstall32]
    AddReg = MultiPortSerialClass.AddReg
    [MultiPortSerialClass.AddReg]
    HKR,,,,%MultiPortSerialClassName

  • What is the failure?  What is the class/classGuid of the INF?  If you are trying to modify a class that is provided by the operating system, that is not allowed.

  • After I reinstall the target OS, this test item is passed.

  • This seems to me, that it was the same problem then I have:

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/whck/thread/edf83876-5672-47e7-8367-31027554894e

    If you install / uninstall the driver more than once the oemX.inf/pnf -> X is incremented. The test does not recognize that and wants the oemX.inf/pnf of the first installation. So oemX.inf was not found during this test.

  • It's so strange.

    Why the test results are not the same for all OS? We have tested it under Win8 (x86/x64), Win2012, Win2003 x64, Win2008 x64 and all of them are passed. But the test results are fail under Win2003 x86, Win2008 x86, WinXP x86. Why?

  • Hi Jason,

    That statements are used to install the default class (Multi-port serial adapters) into system. We don't modify the class GUID in the INF. Can you give me some suggestions?

    Thanks.
