Disable App Download For Windows 10 Mobile devices RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I have a Windows Phone 8.0 app in the store right now. I want users to not be able to download it in Windows Phone 10.

    Is this something that is done automatically or do I have to do something about it?

    I've read that if I retarget my app to 8.1, then in the Package.appxmanifest generated I can include OSMinVersion and OSMaxVersion as Prerequisites. In that case, is it enough if I do the following?

    <Prerequisites>
        <OSMinVersion>8.0</OSMinVersion>
        <OSMaxVersionTested>8.1</OSMaxVersionTested>
    </Prerequisites>

    Thanks,

    -JR.

  • According to this documentation, windows will not block installation of the package on versions of the OS higher than the value provided in the field. It seems users can download your app in win 10 store.
