Azure IoT Hub incoming messages monitoring w.r.t edge devices RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have an IoT hub which is getting the messages from various edge devices.

Is it possible to setup an alert that if the specific edge device is not sending any messages, it should trigger an alert.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I haven’t found a direct a way to receive an alert. However, you can utilize Azure Functions to trigger alerts when a particular action is not performed.

You can use Azure Monitor to receive an alert when a particular device is disconnected.

IoT Hub also supports custom endpoints that can be defined by users to send device telemetry data and events to Azure services using message routing.

You can also use Direct methods to get an alert immediately when the device is disconnected. Direct methods follow a request-response pattern and are meant for communications that require immediate confirmation of their result. Please refer to Understand and invoke direct methods from IoT Hub for more details.

Let us know if that helps.

  • Thank you very much Ashok.

    I'll check the Direct methods.

We have the log analytics query which will update us for connection loss.
